4 Steps for Choosing the Best Moving Company

Make sure to get referrals

The best way to learn how a company performs is through referrals. This is why our reputation is so important to us at Guardian Moves and Storage. Referrals from those that have done business with us are greatly valued because it speaks to the customer experience and value that we strive to give all our clients. When you are starting your search for a moving company, do your research and seek out movers with a proven track record of positive referrals and online reviews.

Ask for an estimate

Professional moving companies offer a free estimate, if they don’t this is a big red flag. Want to get the most accurate moving estimate possible? This is done through an in-person estimate. Most reputable movers offer free in-person estimates. This ensures you won’t get stuck with added moving expenses and your movers are fully prepared to efficiently move all your belongings on moving day, no surprises! Professional moving estimate should be written or typed and delivered via email.

Ask questions

There are all sorts of variables that can impact the price of your move. For instance, are you looking for “full-service” movers? Full-service means you need assistance packing and moving all your items. If you are on a budget, then you may want to consider putting in some leg work, disassembling and reassembling your belongings yourself. Estimates are calculated on an hourly basis, keep that in mind if you are looking out for your bottom line.

Make sure your mover is licensed and insured

Movers should be listed on the SAFER website that is run by the US Department of Transportation on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. This will show if the company is a legal entity that is qualified for local and/or long-distance moves. When it comes to your most prized possessions and belongings, do your homework and seek out a mover that is licensed and insured.
